Paul G. Alvard, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, March 27, 2009 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 18, 1927 in Knapp, WI, the son of David and Frieda Alvard. Paul joined the Army in 1953, traveled the world and retired in 1973 after 20 years of service. He was among the first computer programmers for the U.S. Army. Paul began a second career in the private sector, working for Blue Cross Blue Shield and EDS Corporation in Denver, CO. Paul met his wife Hermine Kern in Vienna in 1955; they were married for 47 years.
Survivors include his children, Kathleen Rohde of Gardner, KS and Michael Alvard of College Station, TX; grandchildren, Noah and Hannah Alvard and Rachel Rohde; his siblings, Margaret Streeter and Lois (Glen) Fiscuss; special niece, Judy Thiede of Beloit, WI.
He was predeceased by his wife, parents, and siblings, Robert Alvard and Viola Lindsey.
There will be no funeral services. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements
