Robert J. Chatsey, 81, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, April 10, 2009 in his home.
He was born August 20, 1927 in Beloit, WI, the son of Robert Russell and Lula Evelyn Jacobson (Beilke) Chatsey. Robert was a 1945 graduate of Brooklyn High School. In 1944 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marines serving in WWII and Korea as staff sergeant, drill instructor and a recruiter. Robert married Mary Lou Farnsworth on January 22, 1949 in Evansville, WI.
Robert was employed by Fairbanks Morse for over 35 years as the foundry supervisor, retiring in December of 1984. He then went to work for ABC doing some landscaping and St. Thomas Catholic Church as a custodian trying to keep himself busy in his retirement. He enjoyed golfing and was a huge Packer fan. Robert was a member of the Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century Club and a charter member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Chatsey of Beloit, WI; two daughters, Linda Zillman of Allegan, MI and Wendy (Al) Swanson of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Christopher (Meegan) Zillman of Homewood, IL, Reece (Abi) Zillman of Fort Wayne, IN and Kyle (Racheal) Hageness of North Las Vegas, NV, Sam (Jill) Swanson of Rock City, IL, Dan Swanson of Madison, WI and Sarah (Wei-Li) Shao of Taipei, Taiwan; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne Evelyn (Ernie) Bryan of Hayesville, KS and Donna Corinne Demos of Beloit, WI; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter, and a very devoted friend, Max.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
