Steven Dohmeyer, 59, of Beloit, WI died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in his home.
He was born July 29, 1949 in Janesville, WI, the son of William and Alice Schoonover Dohmeyer. Steven was a graduate of Milton High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Marines after high school and served in the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1969. Steven married Mary Boigenzahn on August 1, 1970 in Beloit, WI.
Steven was employed by Warner Electric, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Newark Gun Club and served on the Newark Town board. Steven was a leader and very active in 4-H and also helped build and coach at the Newark ball diamond. He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dohmeyer of Beloit, WI; two children, Alison (Chad) Lewis of Footville, WI, and Matt (Darcy) Dohmeyer of Beloit, WI; two granddaughters, Blair and Avery Lewis; six sisters and brothers, Delores (Bud) Zanoni of Hayward, WI, Bill (Della) Dohmeyer of Waukesha, WI, Quinn (Dick Klaus) Nuccio of Hayward, WI, Sandy (Don) Schara of Hayward, WI, Kathleen (John) Syftestad of Mt. Horeb, WI, and Janet (Mike) Brandt both of Hayward, WI; special sister-in-law, Marlene Boigenzahn; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jim (Sandy) Sagen.
A special thank you to all of those who helped Steve finish his last project on Saturday, June 6, 2009, and also John and Lisa from Beloit Regional Hospice.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, John; and brother-in-law, Pete Nuccio.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Newark Gun Club, 11438 S. Smythe School Road, Beloit, WI. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice.
