Eileen J. Bliss, 83, formerly of Beloit, WI, died in the home of her daughter in Waunakee, WI, on Thursday, June 25, 2009 surrounded by her three loving daughters.
She was born May 13, 1926 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of George and June Jackson Day. Eileen was a 1944 graduate of Dodgeville High School. She married Merle F. Bliss on December 17, 1945 in St. Paul’s Parsonage, Mineral Point, WI. He predeceased her on February 16, 2005.
Eileen was an independent Seamstress and Taylor. She worked for Singer for many years and JoAnne Fabrics. Eileen enjoyed traveling, especially to Washington Island, WI where she had met many new friends. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers and growing vegetables. Eileen was a member of the Women of the Moose, Beloit Chapter #56 and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Victoria (Jim) Goodwin of Washington Island, WI, Deborah (Randy) Rynes of Waunakee, WI and Bonnie Cheadle of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Georgene Stratman of Madison, WI, and Virginia Dowling of Dodgeville, WI; brother-in-law, Homer Bliss of Sturgeon Bay, WI; nieces and nephews; and faithful companion, Gizmoe.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with a Prayer service at 3:45 p.m.
