Obituary:
Ralph J. Armfield, 92, of Beloit, WI died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in his home. He was born September 22, 1916 in Beloit, WI, the son of Roy J. and Mary M. Hull Armfield. Ralph was a 1936 graduate of Beloit High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII. Ralph married Margaret I. Zinnecker on November 27, 1943 in Farragut Naval Base, Idaho. Ralph was employed as a baker by Braun’s Pastry Shop from 1936 to 1942, as a welder by Yates-American Machine Co. from 1951 to 1958, and as a mail carrier with the United States Post Office in Beloit from 1958 until his retirement on February 23, 1979. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and also the National Association of Letter Carriers. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margaret Armfield of Beloit, WI; two daughters, Mary (Donald) Ludlum of Beloit, WI and Margie (Charles) Mongan of Rockton, IL; son, Charles (Mary) Armfield of South Beloit, IL; eight grandchildren, Chris (Laurie)Ludlum, Stephanie (Steve) Peters, Chad (Nicole) Ludlum, Jon (Jennifer) Ludlum, Jennifer (Nate) Ludlum, Charles (Dee) Mongan, Michelle (Scott) Tilton, and Lauren (Erik Kozlowski) Armfield; eleven great grandchildren, Cameron Ludlum, Morgan Williams, Ariel Ludlum, Dayne Ludlum, Evan Ludlum, Luci Jo Ludlum, Lylah Peters, Sarah and Kylie Hoey, Jenna Tilton, and Skyler Kozlowski; several nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his parents. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 747 Hackett St., Beloit, WI with Fr. Steven Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Jude Catholic Church or Beloit Regional Hospice.
