Ralph E. Allen, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in his home.
He was born November 27, 1925 in Beloit, WI, the son of Ralph and Margaret Allen. Ralph was a graduate of Beloit High School. He joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 19 serving in the Pacific and Japan during WWII. Ralph married Julia Pratt on February 14, 1948 in St. Peter Catholic Church. She predeceased him on December 24, 2006.
Ralph was employed by Adams Corp. for 20 years as a general manager traveling all over the world. He then was employed by Frito-Lay for 10 years until his retirement in 1989. Ralph was an avid packer fan and won a Ray Nitscke look a like contest. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, camping, crying at movies, working with his hands, refinishing furniture and just lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Ralph was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include his four children, Ralph F. (Barbara) Allen of Hawaii, Tim (Julie) Allen of Orfordville, WI, Judi (Dan) Noble and Betsy Dodge both of Beloit, WI; 11 grandchildren, Scott (Ruthie) Grogg of Ohio, Nathan (Mendee) Allen of Ohio, Megan Stevens of IL, Wendy (Chad) Sullivan of Indiana, Andrea (Tom) Ames of Minnesota, Chris (Crystal) Allen of Orfordville, WI, Sarah Allen of Orfordville, Alicia Patrick of Beloit, WI, Eric (Amy) Noble of Beloit, WI, Holly Markin of Florida, and Ashland Markin of Beloit, WI; 12 great grandchildren, Derrick, Cain, Isaiah, Shelby, Cassandra, Kaydence, Jayvin, Pheonix, Julia, McKinley, Aden and Alexis; brother-in-law, Bill (Evelyn) Pratt of Janesville, WI; sister-in-law, Catherine Johnson of IL.
He was predeceased by his parents, granddaughter, Monica Allen and sister, Betty Edwards.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
