Jack W. Coonrod, 86, of Hillsboro, WI, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 in his home.
He was born August 2, 1923 in Beloit, WI, the son of Herschel and Elsie Haase Coonrod. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division in Normandy, Rhindland, and Central Europe. He married Dolores Scott in 1952 in the Old Stone Church, Rockton, IL.
Jack was employed by Woodward Governor for 33 years as a quality control supervisor, retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1621. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing cards, farming, and going to auctions. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dolores Coonrod of Hillsboro, WI; two sons, John (Bonnie) Coonrod of Rockford, IL and Bill (Rose) Coonrod of Durand, IL; daughter, Deborah (Lawrence) Winzenried of Hillsboro, WI; three grandchildren, Chad (Angie) Coonrod of CO, Rebecca (Terry) Potenziani of IL, and Matthew Osborne of IL; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Dominick, and Lilianna.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandson, Scott Coonrod, and three sisters, Betty Gaetzman, Janice Coonrod, Janat Hanson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with Rev. James Moore officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
