Robert “Bob” Dates, 69, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 19, 1940 in Portage, WI, the son of Paul and Audrey (Gates) Dates. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Pardeeville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving from 1959 to 1963 in San Diego, CA, Quantico, VA, and Hawaii. Bob married Linda Emmons on December 27, 1959 in San Diego, CA.
Bob was employed by Chrysler Corporation as a repairman, retiring in 1996. He was an avid gardener, NASCAR, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, farmers markets and auctions.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Dates of Beloit, WI; three children, Regina Dates of Beloit, WI, Brian (Cindy) Dates of South Beloit, IL, and Tammy (Larry) Lewis of Edgerton, WI; two granddaughters, Ashley Collicott of Janesville, WI and Leise Scholien of Mexico Beach, FL; two great granddaughters, Jaselynne and Kylie of Janesville, WI; three sisters, Elizabeth Dates of Reedsburg, WI, Virginia Heppner and Gloria Dreyer both of Pardeeville, WI; one brother, Paul Dates Jr. of Glidden, WI; several nieces, nephews and friends; precious pet, Dorie.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, one sister, one great niece, and two nephews.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Beloit Regional Hospice for all of their care and compassion for Robert and also to Dr. Leo Egbujiobi and Dr. Patel for their care.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with Pastor Douglas Gray officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
