Obituary:
Dewey H. Brewer Jr., 87, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, September 18, 2009 in his home. He was born May 31, 1922, in Aberdeen, MS, the son of Dewey Sr. and Laviena “Maudine” Rogers Brewer. Dewey was drafted in the United States Army in 1942, serving in Europe as a Platoon Sergeant with the Third Army during WWII under the command of General George Patton. Dewey was awarded several service medals. He always said he walked Europe. Dewey married Lorraine Kirst on February 24, 1951 in West Side Presbyterian, Beloit, WI. Dewey was employed as a butcher by AP until moving to Beloit in 1950. He was then employed by and retired from United Industries where he worked for 35 years. Dewey ran a small engine repair shop after his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Dewey was a member of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church and a former member of the American Legion Holtz-Hirst Post #288. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lorraine Brewer of Beloit, WI; son, John (Karleen) Brewer of Beloit, WI; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Gina, Joe, Ryan, and Amy; two great grandchildren, Jayla and Jaslynn; one brother, K.D. Brewer; one sister-in-law, Nancy (Stan) Steinmetz of Beloit, WI; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, son, Raymond “Maynard” Brewer, sister, Ruby “Kitty” Okas. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in Sun Valley Presbyterian Church, 1650 Sun Valley, Beloit, WI with Pastor Dave Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials:
Memorials may be given in his name to the Beloit Regional Hospice or Sun Valley Presbyterian Church.
