Obituary:
Richard Lee “Dick” Flanigan, 76, of South Beloit, IL passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Dick Flanigan is survived by Ruth “Joanne” Flanigan, his beloved wife of 55 years. He was a loving and protective father of four daughters: Kathy (Duane Dudek), Peggy Krueger (Larry), Debbie Luethy (Dean), and Molly Flanigan-Barnett (Steve). He was an inside sales representative for Abar-Ipsen Industries for several years and retired in 1998. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in South Beloit where he lived all his life, and was also a longtime member of the South Beloit Businessmen’s Club. Mr. Flanigan was born May 5, 1933 to James and Myrtice Flanigan, now deceased. He is survived by his caring siblings: brother, Bill (Ruth), and sister, Anne Rhoades (Dudley). He was preceded in death by brothers James, Jack and Ron. He is also survived by cherished grandchildren, Matt Flanigan (Jamie), Jennifer Flanigan Radtke (Dennis), Caitlin Cave, Jason Luethy (Sunni), Nicole Luethy Schnack (Eric) and Tyler Luethy; and great-grandchildren, Courtland and Brynn Flanigan, Violet and Truman Radtke, Addison Hanson and Whitney Schnack, and Gavin Luethy. Mr. Flanigan’s survivors also include his good friend Arnie Stitt. The family would like to thank the medical staff who worked tirelessly to make him comfortable with special gratitude to his hospice nurses, Michelle and Dionne, and Dr. Michael Maloney, Dr. Mark Cormier and Dr. Daniel Houlihan. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd., South Beloit, IL with Father Robert McClellan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with a Rosary to be recited at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you have a Mass said in Dick’s name or that donations be given to Hospice of OSF in Rockford at www.osfhomecare.org/donate.
