Obituary:
Elizabeth Lorraine Dagelen Bach, 95, of Beloit, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. The daughter of Margaret and Edward Dagelen, she was born in Milwaukee, WI, on September 15, 1914. Elizabeth married Harry Richard Bach in Milwaukee on June 27, 1936, living in various Wisconsin locales before relocating to Beloit in 1954. While in the Stateline area, Elizabeth put to use her exceptional mechanical aptitude skills by working for 27 years at Fairbanks Morse in Beloit as a draftsperson and technical illustrator. Mrs. Bach was a woman of strong faith, and enjoyed being an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and past officer of the St. Jude Marian Guild. Elizabeth's talents even allowed her to write a book based on her faith experience and study, which included many beautiful poems and inspirational insight. Although she recently moved in with her son and daughter-in-law in Beloit, Elizabeth had lived in her own home until three years ago, remaining exceptionally independent after her husband died in 1983. This was showcased through her volunteer efforts over the years at Beloit Memorial Hospital, her love of painting, which came upon her at age 65 and allowed her to create many beautiful paintings she shared with her family, friendships through her bridge club, and even the chores of driving herself around town and painting her own home. Elizabeth was a strong woman, and those who knew her are fortunate to have been touched by her wisdom, her humor, her faith, and her love. Survivors include two sons, H. Richard (Julie) Bach of Fort Wayne, IN, and Kenneth C. (Karen) Bach of Beloit; grandchildren: Joy (Leroy) Edwards, Laura Dutter, Christopher Bach, and Matthew Bach; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Fr. Anthony Dagelen, S.J. of Milwaukee; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen “Kit” Dagelen of Milwaukee. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, a brother, and a great-grandson. Like her husband who predeceased her, Elizabeth donated her body to Marquette University in Milwaukee, to further the practice of medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit, sometime in the spring. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett St., Beloit, WI 53511.
