Obituary:
Ronald Wayne Freitag, 86, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, January 17, 2010. He was born April 23, 1923 in Beloit, WI, the son of Jacob R. and Florence Andre Freitag. Ronald was a 1941 graduate of Beloit High School. He married Georgine Gaskin on January 16, 1971 in St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Madison, WI. She predeceased him on September 21, 1996. Ronald farmed land in the Greater Beloit Area including the Freitag family farm. During WWII he supported the war effort by providing crops for the military. He was a former Meals on Wheels volunteer and was the co-chair for the reunions of Beloit High School’s Class of 1941 for a number of years. Survivors include his eight children, George Farrens, Peter Farrens, and Anne Whalen all of Madison, WI, Elizabeth (Domenick) Castellano of Honesdale, PA, Mary (George Fleming) Farrens of Stoughton, WI; Caroline (Richard Davis) Loniello and Thomas Farrens both of Madison, WI, and Sara (David) Deutsch of Rockford, IL; 14 grandchildren, Katy Farrens, Madeleine and Hannah Whalen, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Antony Loniello, and Alissa (Nels) Labansky all of Madison, WI, Andrea (Brian) Montanye of Monroe, WI, Matthew Farrens of Madison, WI, Lindsey and Jessica Castellano of Honesdale, PA, and Lauren, Jillian and Natalie Deutsch of Rockford, IL; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Duane Freitag of Beloit, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Leonard, Warren, Gerald, Lawrence, and Leon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with The Reverend Gail Abbott officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Hospice of your choice.
