James “Jim” J. Carlin Jr., 80, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 in the Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 8, 1929 in Phoenixville, PA, the son of James and Mable Such Carlin Sr. James received his high school equivalency diploma and also received his Associates Degree in Psychology from Waukesha County Technical School. He married Doris E. Barkman on September 8, 1956 in Phoenixville, PA.
James was employed by Synthane Corp in Oaks, PA where he was president of the union, retiring in 1964. James was the founder and also served as Pastor of the Bread of Life Mission in 1969 in Phoenixville, PA. He also served as a pastor in Waukesha, WI. He was an Elder of the Cornerstone Church of God, Beloit, WI.
James had a heart transplant on May 11, 1989 which gave him an extra 20 years with his family.
He loved his family and faithfully served God. James enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Carlin of Beloit, WI; five children, Sharon (Don) Niman of Beloit, WI, James J. (Jennifer) Carlin III of Menomonee Falls, WI, Donna (Alan) Wright of Orlando, FL, Tina (Randy) Cole and Sandra (Dale) Riley both of Beloit, WI; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers: Donald Olkewicz, Richard Olkewicz, and John Carlin Sr., nephew, John Carlin, Jr., and a granddaughter, Maria Romero Suvak.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 in the Cornerstone Church of God, 322 Olympian Blvd., Beloit, WI with Pastor David Metzger officiating.
