James Cavanaugh Tuohy, 78, of South Beloit, IL, died Friday, February 5, 2010 in St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, IL.
James was born October 4, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the son of Paul and Mildred Bichl Tuohy. He was a graduate of St. George High School, Evanston, IL and a 1953 graduate of De Paul University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Marketing. James married Joan Chapman on November 6, 1954 in Chicago, IL.
James was employed for 43 years by A.C. Nielsen Market Research in Chicago, IL. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. James was very active in civic organizations. He was a member of the American Marketing Association and Junior Achievement.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joan Chapman Tuohy of South Beloit, IL; three children, Jeanne Chernik-Krueger of Beloit, WI, John (Susan) Tuohy of Madison, WI, and James (Dian) Tuohy of Waxahachie, TX; seven grandchildren, Nicolle and Rick Chernik, Ryan, Megan, Sarah, Rachel, and Rebecca Tuohy; one great grandchild, Audrey Tuohy; and several cousins in the Bichl family.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Rd., Beloit, WI with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements.
