John Ray Drinkwater, 76, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, of Janesville, WI, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 17, 1933 in Beloit, WI, the son of Harry and Clara Conroy Drinkwater. John married Betty Shultz on June 30, 1962 in Poplar Grove, IL.
John was employed by Fairbanks Morse for 47 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century Club, Janesville Camera Club and First Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI. John had many interests which included photography, playing pool and cards, telling stories, reading, watching black and white movies, listening to old country music, being outdoors, genealogy and learning about historical events.
John was a very religious man who loved his family dearly. He was a caring and loving person who was always taking care of others first and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends which included his weekly breakfasts with co-workers.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Drinkwater of Janesville, WI; children, Mike (Margaret) Drinkwater of Janesville, WI, Betty Jo (Roger) Ebbert of Fort Atkinson, WI, and Deborah (Bruce) Morgan of Avalon, WI; grandchildren, Timothy (Amanda) Drinkwater, Daniel (Jessica) Drinkwater, Jonathan Schaefer, Matthew Martinez, Catrina (John) Kraus, Theresa (Aaron) Hodge, Cynthia (Andrew) Cardoni, Angela (Jason) Nehls, Peter (Misy) Cronin, and Nicholas Cronin; great grandchildren, Sawyer, Vincent, Marcus, Elysia, Curtis, Mariah, Miklo, Matthew Jr., Tyler, Karley, Kaylee, Victoria, Caiden and Aviana; special friends, Keith and Penny Linner of Beloit, WI.
He was predeceased by his parents, great grandson, two sisters and three half brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the First Lutheran Church 612 N. Randall, Janesville, WI, with Reverend James Melvin officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday in the church.
