Earl James Marks, 93, of South Beloit, IL, died Monday, March 8, 2010 in Pioneer Court.
He was born February 1, 1917 in Juneau County, WI, the son of Jacob and Ada Visgar Marks. Earl was a 1937 graduate of South Beloit High School. He married Eunice Holmes on February 3, 1940 in Dubuque, IA.
Earl was employed by Freeman Shoe Company, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed reading, camping and traveling all over the U.S. and Canada with his wife, Eunice. Earl was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, South Beloit, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Eunice Marks of South Beloit, IL; daughter, Karen (Ronald) Lawver of Beloit, WI; daughter-in-law, Ruth Marks of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Rhonda Spindler of South Beloit, IL, Ginny (Eric) Burgess of Virginia Beach, VA, Kevin Lawver of Pensacola Beach, FL, and Earl Marks of Virginia Beach, VA; three great grandchildren, Alexandra, Afton and Ryan; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Cathee Marks, son, Robert Marks, two brothers, Thomas and Robert Marks, one sister, Mildred Coots, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 in Faith Lutheran Church, 1305 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL, with Reverend Dell Olson officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
