Daniel A. DeLong, 51, of Clinton, WI, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family after a battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.
He was born January 23, 1959 in Elkhorn, WI, the son of Delmar and Mary Belle Pierce DeLong. Dan was a graduate of Clinton High School. He married Pamela J. Hartley on June 20, 1981 in Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, Poplar Grove, IL.
Dan worked for the family business DeLong Company for over 30 years. Throughout the years Dan had the opportunity to be a member of many organizations which include Clinton Booster Club, Beloit Memorial Hospital Foundation board, Turtle Town board, Clinton Village board, American Red Cross, Turtle 4th of July organization, Pelishek-Tiffany Nature Trail Foundation and the Fire Department. He was the past president of Clinton Kiwanis. Dan always participated in softball tournaments and loved to announce high school football games and 4-H Jr. Softball games. He was also a youth basketball coach. He was a lifetime member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church and served on the church council. Dan’s favorite place was to be at the family’s cabin in Peshtigo, WI.
