Mary E. Wonzer

August 21, 1940 - March 3, 2022

Mary Ellen Wonzer, 81, of South Beloit, IL, died on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Rock River Health Care, Rockford, IL. She was born on August 21, 1940 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Dorothy (McCauley) Scott. Mary married Robert "Bob"Wonzer on March 12, 1980. Mary was formerly employed by the Wagon Wheel and was a homemaker. She was a member of Central Christian Church. Mary had such a great love for life. She had the biggest heart and loved everyone she knew. Mary based her life around love, laughter, and her devotion to God and her church. She was honest, almost to a fault. Mary was also kind, genuine, and always went out of her way to make others laugh and smile. She loved to talk and tell stories about her son Raymond, how much she treasured their long talks, his smile, and his contagious laugh. Mary had an immense love and loyalty to her husband Bob. She spent her life taking care of him. They were truly inseparable. Mary will be loved and missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Bob of South Beloit, IL; brothers, Mike, David, Bruce, and Tom Scott all of Beloit, WI; nieces, Pamela (Lin) Vongsouvanh of Rockford, IL, Tammy Ziemer, Michele Hall, Laurie Lovings, Amy Vance all of Beloit, WI, Arlene Smock of South Beloit, IL, and Shawn Bach of Janesville, WI. She was predeceased by her mother; brothers, Leslie Scott, Archie Ray Scott Jr., Larry Scott, and Jim Scott; and nephew, Dennis Scott. A Graveside Service for Mary will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in the Floral Lawn Cemetery, 835 Dearborn, Ave., South Beloit, IL, with Pastor David Meding officiating. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
